As the need for recycling efficiency continues to grow, Davis-Standard's ram stuffer extruder has proved to be a cost-effective solution for fiber waste. This scrap-to-pellet extruder is engineered to reprocess a variety of fibers including face yarn and backing materials. Davis-Standard upgraded its ram stuffer feed section a few years ago and the improvements have been valuable to its customers. As a result, several Davis-Standard ram stuffers were recently installed at one of the largest fiber recycling operations in North America.
Extrusion Line for Recycling Fiber Waste
The upgraded ram stuffer feed section is a combination of Davis-Standard and Merritt Extruder technologies. It features a larger opening and more aggressive plunger head to process a wider range of materials, reducing reprocessing costs. It is pneumatically driven with an oversized cylinder for improved process efficiency and equipped with unique seals for longevity. Retrofit kits are available for existing ram stuffers.
Davis-Standard supplies a complete line of reclaim extruders and systems for post industrial and post consumer processing. Reprocessing capabilities are available for low and high bulk density scrap, lightweight feedstocks, printed scrap, foam scrap, fiber scrap, rolled scrap and loose film scrap. Equipment reflects Davis-Standard's commitment to provide solutions that offer a significant value for the investment. Those solutions include offering equipment for processing scrap to pellet at a cost per pound that is lower than the industry average. Extruders can be built to process various materials at rates from 50 to 12,000 lbs. (23 to 5,400 kg) per hour. Extruder designs include ram stuffer, dual diameter, and tangential feed as needed to address process requirements.
