Dow adds mass-ABS train in the Netherlands

Published on 2002-12-09. Author : SpecialChem
HORGEN, SWITZERLAND, Dec. 6 -- Dow Plastics has completed construction of a new mass-ABS production train at its plant in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. The expansion increases Dow's capacity for Magnum ABS by approximately 75,000 metric tons/yr.

The new capacity will help meet demand in key market segments including information technology, appliance, and automotive.

Dow says mass-ABS represents a key growth area in the overall ABS market. With a light, stable base color, Dow claims its ABS resins are more compatible with color concentrates than other competitive products, resulting in self-coloring success and a reduction in total processing costs.

Dow currently manufactures approximately 317,000 metric tons of Magnum ABS resins at plants in Europe and North America.
