Momentive Performance Materials Inc. will be introducing a range of new silicone technologies at K 2019, including silicone elastomers, specialty silanes and coatings. Live demonstrations will highlight the real-world application of these technologies.
Silicone Elastomers Solutions Highlights in the Show
At K 2019, Momentive will showcase its complete portfolio of Silopren liquid silicone rubber and other silicone elastomer solutions. The new self-bonding Silopren LSR 27x9 family addresses the demands for hard-soft designs, helps in the bonding between silicone and thermoplastics, reduces assembly steps and meets various complex design requirements.
The highlight of the Silicone Elastomers business include the first presentation of a 2-Momentive Butterfly Smartphone Holdercomponent molding cell to manufacture an innovative ‘butterfly’ smartphone-holder prototype. This cell will overmold a plastic frame, based on Covestro’s
Apec® 1745 polycarbonate, directly in a second shot with the new
Silopren LSR 2759 from Momentive. The result is a smartphone-holder with primer-less adhesion between the PC and Silicone rubber, and ready for attachment to a car´s ventilation flap.
Demo Design Crafted by Elmet
The entire demo design, set up and implementation will be provided by Elmet, which also built the two-shot mold, automation and LSR dosing system TOP 5000 P. Setup will be implemented on a 2-component injection molding ‘SmartPower 120’ machine and robot from Wittmann-Battenfeld.
The new Silopren LSR 27x9 family from Momentive offers primer-less adhesion to many
PC, PBT and copolyester substrates in commercial hard-soft combinations.
K 2019 will take place October 16-23 at Germany. Attendees can visit Momentive´s coatings, elastomers and specialty silanes experts in Hall 6, booth B15 to discuss solutions to their design challenges.
