RBX Industries, Inc. Announces Plant Closings

Published on 2004-02-05. Author : SpecialChem

ROANOKE, Va. -- RBX Industries Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of closed cell foam materials and custom rubber compound, announced on Monday their intention to close three of six North American manufacturing facilities between April 2 and April 16, 2004. Those operations effected are located in Bedford VA, Tallapoosa GA, and Colt AR.

The decision to terminate those operations was directly related to continued financial losses associated with those locations driven by overcapacity in the rubber industry and continued weakness in the general manufacturing economy.

RBX has had a significant presence in and very positive relationship with these communities for many years. Company officials acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of all employees and the support of the local communities affected.

The closure of these plants will allow RBX to reduce overhead costs associated with those facilities and focus on its core closed cell foam business including rubber, plastic, and silicone materials sold under the Ensolite®, Oletex® and Groendyk® brands. Those products are produced at manufacturing locations in Conover NC, South, Holland IL, and Buchanan VA.
