PGA (Polyglycolic Acid or Polyglycolide)

Polyglycolides or polyglycolic acids (PGA) are crystalline biodegradable polymers.Their high melting temperature and limited solubility creates difficulty in processing. They are insoluble in almost all organic solvents and show poor resistance to hydrolysis. Polyglycolides or polyglycolic acids are widely used in the healthcare/medical research and applications like drug delivery and implantable medical devices such as rods, plates and screws.
