Ultramid® S3K Balance

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by BASF
Ultramid® S3K Balance by BASF is an unreinforced, polyamide 6-10 grade. It is produced by polycondensation of hexamethylene diamine and sebacic acid. It is based on 60% sebacic acid, a renewable raw material derived from castor oil. It differs from conventional PA 6 and PA 66 in reduced water uptake and stress cracking resistance. It shows easy flowing and fast processing properties. It is highly resistant to fuels, oils and greases, to most solvents, aqueous solutions and alkalis. It is processed by injection molding. Ultramid® S3K Balance is used in overmolding metal and electronic components that come into contact with aggressive media, for example wheel speed sensors, housing and gear components where dimensional stability is a major consideration, plug-in connectors, pipes and reservoirs in cooling circuits with high demands on hydrolysis resistance.
