Cornpole

Biodegradable bioplastic made primarily from cornstarch. Despite having cornstarch as the main component, it is water resistant. It contains no harmful substances, can be composted. The heat of combustion is less than that of petroleum plastics. It can be used as-is with general plastic machining equipment. It is highly compatible with other biodegradable polymers such as polyester, PHBV, PLA, and PCL, making it possible to provide a high variety of new composite materials. It can be also supplied in powder form and is soluble in organic solvents, such as ketone and ester. Used in ballpoint pens and agricultural mulching films.
