KURARAY POVAL™ 40-80 E by Kuraray is partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH). It is a water soluble grade manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. Exhibits good cohesion, good adhesion to fiber, fillers and pigments. It is used as protective colloids in the polymerization of polymer emulsions. It influences not only particle size distribution but also the application properties such as viscosity, stability to stirring, the freeze/thaw stability, pigment compatibility, electrolyte stability and open time of the emulsion. KURARAY POVAL™ 40-80 E is recommended for the modification of emulsion adhesives, remoistenable adhesives and raw material for PVOH films. It has a shelf life of 12 months.
