KURARAY POVAL™ 60-98

KURARAY POVAL™ 60-98 by Kuraray is a fully saponified and hydrolyzed, standard type, water soluble polyvinyl alcohol. It is manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It displays excellent mechanical strength when applied as a film on paper or paperboard making it suitable for use as a surface sizing agent. Used as a protective colloid for emulsion polymerization, binder and raw material for PVOH films. Surfaces treated with KURARAY POVAL™ 60-98 repel hydrophobic products such as oil, grease and fat. Also used as a binder in sizes due to its good penetration capacity, cohesion and good adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. Possesses a uniform chemical structure, good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. Shows low electrostatic charging and redissolving capacity of the dried film in water. It influences the rheology of polymer emulsions including particle size distribution, viscosity, stability to stirring, freeze/ thaw stability, pigment compatibility and electrolyte stability. It has a shelf life of 12 months.
