At the CHINAPLAS 2018 in Shanghai (April 24 to April 27, Hall 2, Booth T01), KraussMaffei will be presenting innovative injection molding machines and technologies in combination with pioneering Industry 4.0 solutions that enable customers to sustainably optimize their production.

KraussMaffei bundles its Industry 4.0 solutions under the umbrella brand Plastics 4.0.

  • All in all, they help turn a manufacturing plant into an intelligent factory.

KraussMaffei will be demonstrating how this can be done in practice at the CHINAPLAS stand using selected live demonstrations as an example.

More Transparency in Production Planning with MaXecution
A highlight at the KraussMaffei booth is the new MaXecution, a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) specially tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized injection molding companies.

"The new MaXecution, which will be unveiled to our customers in China for the first time at CHINAPLAS, will increase production transparency through productivity metrics such as overall equipment efficiency, tool and resource management, and machine and scrap statistics."

The new MaXecution from KraussMaffei is based on the market-known MES HYDRA of the Mosbach-based MES provider MPDV Mikrolab GmbH (MPDV) and is being offered in three expansion stages. In this way, the customer can decide on demand how much functionality of an MES he needs individually. Should the customer require additional functions beyond these services, it is always possible to change to HYDRA from MPDV.

At the CHINAPLAS KraussMaffei booth, visitors can experience live how manufacturing data from the injection molding process is captured and evaluated. In addition, KraussMaffei provides brief presentations on useful MES functions in plastics processing several times a day.

GX 650-4300: The Fastest Two-plate Machine in Asia


Another highlight on the KraussMaffei stand is the GX 650-4300 with the new linear robot LRX 150.

Since 2016, the GX series has also been manufactured in China at the Haiyan site in accordance with KraussMaffei's worldwide quality standards. With its extremely short dry cycle times, the GX series is considered the fastest hydraulic two-plate machine in Asia. The on-site production also benefits customers in China and Asia from short delivery times and fast service.
  • The GX series is suitable for high-volume projects with aggressive cycle times as well as for technically demanding applications, such as in lightweight automotive engineering. 
  • At the CHINAPLAS, a GX 650-3400 with a clamping force of 6500 kN demonstrates perfectly repeatable process reliability in cascade injection molding. 
  • In cycle times of about 49 seconds, a radiator grille is created for the automotive industry. 
  • The connected FlexFlow hot runner control of the partner HRS FLOW (Hangzhou China) ensures a perfectly balanced cascade adjustment. 
  • The result is high-quality components free from weld lines, which can then be directly painted and galvanized.

PX 160-540: More Speed with Thin-walled Closures


Thin wall parts need power during injection. The fully electric PX 160-540, which is manufactured during the CHINAPLAS so-called flip-top closures type Fontane, therefore has an increased injection speed of 270 mm / s. The closure caps made of PP have a diameter of 28 mm and are designed with a short thread 1881 - thus representing a classic packaging application.

Jörg Wittgrebe explained:
"Particularly high cycle rates in this area require particularly short cycle times. The PX 160 is therefore equipped with speed options: faster injection, faster ejection, increased torque and faster nozzle movement. The compact automation with linear robot LRX 100 removes the lids from the tool and places them in an integrated automation unit, in they are closed. This saves time and space compared to market-known solutions such as the in-mold closing and separate capping process.”

GX 600-3000: Brilliant Vision Components for Consumer Electronics


Exciting surface effects for a 13-inch laptop case are created on a GX 600-3000 using inductive tool temperature control at the partner stand of Roctool (HD plastics). "The design options are immense - whether color shades, hologram, high gloss or matte effects - everything can be realized in the one-shot process without additional processing such as a foil decoration or painting", Wittgrebe sums up the advantages of the technology. A LRX 350 from KraussMaffei's new linear robot generation ensures safe and precise component removal at the trade fair exhibit. The optimized kinematics and the new compressed air saving function support energy-efficient production.

With APC Plus Every Part Becomes A Good Part
All three exhibits, the GX 650, GX 600 and PX 160, are equipped with the extended APC plus function, another offer of the Plastics 4.0 solutions from KraussMaffei. "The APC plus function ensures extremely weight-constant components and maximum process reliability. So practically every part becomes a good part. This saves material and thus money ", Wittgrebe sums up the advantages. The intelligent machine function APC plus is suitable for the processing of thermoplastics, multi-component injection molding or the processing of silicone. Special applications such as thin-walled molded parts or cascade injection molding are also possible. In addition, APC plus also allows the processing of recyclates.
