COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (MSC) will be highlighting its latest developments in composite resin technology at the upcoming Society of Plastics Engineers' Automotive Composites Conference and Exhibition (ACCE), Sept. 9 – 11 in Novi, Mich. Highlighted during the conference are three presentations from MSC experts covering Life Cycle Analysis, a new "crash box" concept for automotive production, and a fast cure prepreg compression molding system.

Momentive Boron nitride

MSC will showcase automotive products from EPIKOTE™ epoxy resin systems, EPIKURE™ curing agents and Bakelite® engineering thermoset high-performance molding compounds at the company's booth display located at P-3 in the exposition hall. These resins, curing agents and compounds are formulated for high volume automotive applications. On Sept. 9th, at 1:30 p.m., MSC Sustainability Specialist, David Evers and Global Sustainability Leader Tannis Marquette, will present the first in a series of life cycle analyses (LCA) on engineering thermoset materials used for under-the-hood applications. This presentation will outline LCA as a tool planners can use to make automotive material design decisions.

Roman Hillermeier, MSC Technology Development Manager, will present recent research from the company and the CETIM technical institute of France on a concept for producing a cost-effective carbon fiber crash box for passenger cars. Hillermeier's presentation is set for Wed., Sept. 10, at 10:30 a.m.

Fast curing resin technology will be the topic of MSC's third presentation. Stephen Greydanus, Senior Application Development Engineer, will present and discuss a new fast cure epoxy prepreg resin technology that has been developed to give cure times of less than five minutes while using conventional compression molding processes. The presentation is slated for Wed., Sept. 10, at 11a.m.
