TFP at JEC EU: To Launch Extended Range of PPS, PEI, PEEK, PA & PI Veils for Composites

TFP announces that it will once again be exhibiting at JEC Europe, March 10-12 on stand C35 in hall 7.3 at Paris Porte de Versailles.

New products which will be exhibited at the event include an extended range of thermoplastic veils; these include PPS, PEI, PEEK, polyamide and polyimide. The primary use for these veils is in improving the mechanical properties in composites. Business Development Director Adam Black comments that "JEC is an excellent opportunity to introduce the full range of these nonwovens to the international composites market. The lightweight veils can be interleaved between reinforcement plies to provide a means to significantly improve the interlaminar toughness of a composite structure, increasing resistance to both mode-I and mode-II fracture." An exciting study by the University of Manchester, which discusses the influence of nonwoven veil architectures on interlaminar fracture toughness, will also be presented at JEC on 10th March as part of the 'Mechanical Behavior of Composites' section of conference program.

As well as the new range of thermoplastic veils it will be showcasing an array of products from our Optiveil®, Optimat® and Tecnofire® ranges. Its Optiveil® and Optimat® ranges have been specifically designed to provide multiple benefits; enabling a high quality surface finish whilst simultaneously imparting surface functionality such as conductivity, EMI shielding and corrosion & abrasion resistance to a composite structure. Other benefits include their potential to act as a resin flow medium, providing enhanced resin transportation in both inter-laminar & surface regions and removing the need to use additional flow media. Its ultra lightweight veils, from 2 g/m², are also an effective carrier or support for adhesive films, ensuring a minimum weight addition whilst improving handling and setting the bond line.

Also on display on stand C35 will be TFP’s Tecnofire® range of fire protection materials. These materials deliver highly effective passive fire protection at the surface of a composite without compromising the integrity of the structure.

Its Optiveil®, Optimat® and Tecnofire® materials are just an indication of our capability, the development and manufacture of custom nonwovens to meet specific performance, aesthetic or processing requirements is a key part of our approach. It recognizes that in a lot of cases a standard material will not suffice and in order to a develop a suitable solution for a specific technical challenge we have extensive experience and product development facilities. The latter include a pilot machine, high spec laminator, fiber coating line and nanocoating facility, all of which help to enable both effective material design and scale up from concept to larger scale production.
