Published on 2015-05-05. Author : SpecialChem

Trelleborg’s engineered fabrics operation exhibits at Techtextil in Frankfurt, Germany from May 5 to 7 in hall 3, stand H60. It showcases its new, fuller offering in polyurethane and rubber-coated fabrics.

Following its acquisition of the assets and businesses of coated fabrics specialists, Uretek LLC and Archer Rubber Company LLC, Trelleborg’s engineered fabrics operation has strengthened its existing leading offering in rubber-coated fabrics, while broadening its range of urethane-coated fabrics.

Johan Frithof, General Manager for Trelleborg’s engineered fabrics operation, says: “The demands placed on our coated fabrics vary depending on the application but each solution has to meet challenging and stringent performance requirements. It is important that we constantly innovate and develop our product offering, to ensure that our materials can cater for the most demanding environments.

“It is this philosophy that drives our commitment to invest in specialist technology and expertise, which will enhance and grow our offering and meet our customers’ developing needs. By coming together with Uretek LLC and Archer Rubber Company LLC, we’re able to continue our focus on R&D and make sure that Trelleborg’s engineered fabrics operation continues to be seen as the natural partner for customers who require advanced polymer-coated fabrics in their innovative products.

“We want to showcase our new portfolio to our customers and Techtextil is the ideal platform to do that. We’ll demonstrate a variety of materials on the stand and our experts will be available to discuss them further.”

Uretek LLC specialized in lightweight polyurethane-coated fabrics and was among the market leaders in North America within this segment. Products are mainly used for inflatable applications in industries such as aerospace, medical and recreational.

Archer Rubber Company LLC specialized in rubber-coated fabrics in North America. It is among the market leaders in butyl-coated fabrics and some lightweight neoprene applications, for use in slides, rafts and life vests.

Trelleborg’s engineered fabrics operation works across a variety of markets, including general industry, automotive, transport, health and safety, marine, aerospace and oil and gas. The company has over 2,000 material recipes, for materials going into end solutions such as advanced conveyor belts, bellows, protective clothing, recreational products, seals, hoses, aircraft escape slides, mattresses, rubber flooring and various medical products.
