Varcum® 94917 by Sumitomo Bakelite is a versatile, heat reactive one-step phenolic resin in a solution of butyl alcohol. Designed for use as a primer for aluminum honeycomb core in aerospace applications. Varcum® 94917 complies with FDA for use in food cans. It is soluble in higher alcohols, esters, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons-alcohol mixtures with limited solubility in lower alcohols.
