Elium® liquid thermoplastic resin by Arkema is a cost-effective, breakthrough innovation with recasting capacity. It enables the manufacture of 100% recyclable wind turbine blades. Suitable for the production continuous carbon fiber or fiber glass thermoplastic composite parts of all sizes and in complex shapes. Offers the advantage of thermoforming and thermowelding. Recommended for wind energy, construction and sports sector including cycling shoe soles, tennis rackets, hockey sticks and helmets. Used in bodywork panels and can replace the metal in bodies-in-white and various structural components for the automotive or railroad sectors. Elium® liquid thermoplastic resin exhibits easy implementation, short setting times at ambient temperature and compatibility with many technologies for transforming thermosetting resins. It utilizes infusion technology used for wind turbine blades or for boat hulls, resin transfer molding, sheet molding compound, pultrusion and permeated tapes. Possesses excellent surface appearance, fireproof properties and high electrical insulation. It replaces corrosion-prone cables and strands for prestressed concrete used in segmental bridge construction. Elium® liquid thermoplastic resin has been tested on standard pultrusion machines, again with IRT M2P in Metz, to produce ultra-resistant bars and cables.
