Ultradur® B4520 RX2

Ultradur® B4520 RX2 by BASF is a tailor-made, non-reinforced, modified, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). It is used for inserts for local radar absorption and parts with lower mechanical loading. This dielectrically optimized material solution is used as a rear cover of sensor housing or as an insert behind the print circuit board. It is suitable for high-performance radar sensors for automated driving. Ultradur® B4520 RX2 exhibits resistance against media such as splash water, oils or salt. This grade absorbs radar waves in the range of 76-81 GHz. It is intended to be used as material to protect radar antennas from electromagnetic noise. The material shows constant protection of sensors against electromagnetic radiation up to atleast 120 GHz. For this grade, ~1 mm is the lowest wall thickness for optimal radar absorption. It reduces signal noise, thus increasing the safety in road traffic.
