KURARAY POVAL™ 45-88 E by Kuraray is a partially hydrolyzed, standard type, water soluble polyvinyl alcohol. It is manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. Used as a protective colloid for emulsion polymerization, binder and raw material for PVOH films. Also used as a binder in sizes due to its good penetration capacity, cohesion and good adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. Possesses a uniform chemical structure, good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. Shows low electrostatic charging and redissolving capacity of the dried film in water. It influences the rheology of polymer emulsions including particle size distribution, viscosity, stability to stirring, freeze/ thaw stability, pigment compatibility and electrolyte stability. KURARAY POVAL™ 45-88 E has a shelf life of 12 months.
