SELVOL™ 504 by Sekisui Specialty Chemical is a white to off-white tinted, partially hydrolyzed, remoistenable polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH or PVA) grade that is offered in the form of granules. It is produced via a multistep process from vinyl acetate monomer (VAM). It has good bonding properties, a high tensile strength, and is simple to create films on. It provides superior stability to sunlight, solubility in hot water, and improved adherence to hydrophobic surfaces. It offers resistance to oils, greases, vegetable or animal oils, and organic solvents. SELVOL™ 504 is offered spun-and-filament sizing in textiles, adhesive applications like polymerization, envelope, label, book binding, padding, carton/case sealing, and wood, creping & optical brightener carrier in papers, and specialty applications like films, fragrance, and detergent encapsulants.
