Polysulfone (PSU): Techno Brief

This technology profile features various key facts about Polysulfone. Polysulfone is a thermoplastic that is widely used in high temperature applications. This technology profile will familiarize you with Polysulfone strengths & limitations, processing guidelines, key features, properties and applications in diverse markets.

Polysulfone

Polysulfone Polysulfone is a self-extinguishing and tough thermoplastic. It has a high heat-distortion temperature and excellent impact resistance and ductility at very low temperatures.

It shows good electrical properties and reasonable hydrolytic stability. It is amorphous and transparent.

Polysulfones are resistance to aqueous acid and alkaline environments. Its excellent thermal and oxidation resistance offer a high degree of melt stability for molding and extrusion. They show high melt strength, allowing for good draw-down and the manufacture of thin films.

Polysulfone can be molded, extruded or thermoformed into a variety of shapes.
