A transparent random PP copolymer for ISBM process

SpecialChem / Jun 19, 2006

The Belgian Total subsidiary Total Petrochemicals has launched a new grade of transparent polypropylene (PP) specially designed for food packaging and converted by using injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) process. This material namely PPR7225 is a random PP copolymer combining a high transparency together with high mechanical properties such as high impact resistance. It is notably regarded as an interesting alternative to poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) to produce water bottles thanks to its ability to be processed at lower temperatures than PET. It can also be used to manufacture other food packaging (for products such as fresh juices or milk) as well as non-food packaging and personal care devices.
