PLA (Polylactide)

Polylactides (PLA) are biodegradable polymers that are relatively new to the commercial market. They are semicrystalline linear thermoplastics that are produced from lactic acid. Polylactides (PLA) are stiff, brittle and can be processed like most thermoplastics, by blow molding, extrusion and injection molding. Polylactides are majorly used in the biomedical sector and environmental friendly applications like manufacturing of compostable bags, packaging etc.
