Composites in the Wind Energy Sector: Reflecting on the Success of 2011 JEC Show

SpecialChem / Apr 26, 2011

The 2011 JEC Show in Paris was one of those industry events professionals really like to attend to. It was not only the right place to discover innovative uses of composites; above all it was a successful trade show, which gave very good signals on the recovery of the economy. With a 37% increase of the exhibiting surface area in only 6 years and 2,400 more visitors than the 2010 edition the 2011 JEC Show was a clear success. More than ever reducing weight and system costs are the main drivers to validate composite solutions. Thanks to their excellent dimensional stability and high mechanical performances reinforced resins, whatever we talk about thermosets or thermoplastics are more popular year after year. We have focused this JEC Show Review on an important market for composites because it reflects pretty well how the entire composites industry is: innovative, fast moving but with many challenges ahead though. This market has recently been placed under the spotlights as an excellent alternative to the nuclear energy: let’s have a closer look at what was said on the wind energy market during the 2011 JEC Show.
