Groundbreaking Nanocomposite Technologies Keep Emerging

SpecialChem / Apr 20, 2009

Nanocomposites, comprising nanoclays and nanotubes, while still a nascent segment of the plastics industry, are expected to be a major growth area. These unique composite materials combine the best properties of filled thermoplastics and neat thermoplastics. The use of polymer nanocomposites particularly in the automotive, packaging and electronics areas is growing steadily. Globally, average annual growth rates of plastic based nanocomposites use is currently 20% per year with use expected to reach US$275 million in 2009.
