Lightweight carbon fiber automotive panels with class A finish

SpecialChem / Sep 21, 2007

The materials supplier Airtech Advanced Materials and the automaker Carbonyte have joined forces to develop lightweight carbon fiber-based panels having class A finish for the new Carbonyte Anarchy limousine having 43 meter long. The partners have selected an Airtech vacuum bag material i.e. Toolfusion materials and a Carbonyte proprietary and cost-effective process, namely HotFusion process to produce the parts. Such resin-infused carbon fiber composite panels has allowed to increase the limousine length without increasing its weight.
