New honeycomb material for the aerospace industry

Hexcel, the American leader of carbon fiber and composite materials production, has developed a new type of high performance non metallic honeycomb core specially designed for composite sandwich applications aimed at aerospace applications such as radomes, ducts, leading edges of wings and stabilizers. This new product i.e. HexWeb® HRH-36 that is available in a vast range of densities is produced from aramid paper and phenolic resin. It offers the same mechanical properties as conventional honeycomb products while offering weight saving.
