SpecialChem / Aug 16, 2006

Phillips Sumika Polypropylene Company, a joint-venture between the American group Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP and the Japanese firm Sumitomo Chemicals, has introduced some new polypropylene (PP) grades specially developed for returnable packaging. The first available grade namely Phillips Sumika Marlexâ ALN-070 PP incorporates a nucleating agent i.e. Hyperform HPN-68L from Milliken. It is said to offer high impact resistance and a high flexural modulus. Other advantages include short cycle times and low warpage. Expected applications include trays, containers, nestable totes and so on.
