Polymer-based Structural Parts for Light-weight Cars

SpecialChem / Sep 1, 2013

Weight reduction has always been one of the main concerns of carmakers, and will also be there in the coming decades; especially now when fuel price is high as compared in the seventies. No doubt carmakers and automotive tiers manufacturers seek new materials and technologies to manufacture higher performing automotive systems with a reduced weight. This has always been a great opportunity for polymers, both thermoplastics and thermosets. The automotive industry has therefore always been a major consumer for polymers; and will keep on pushing for new materials and innovative part design to reduce even more weight.
