Structurally Sound Plastic/Metal Hybrid Molding Emerging

SpecialChem / Sep 1, 2007

Plastic/metal hybrid technology, earlier developed by Bayer AG, now Lanxess as a weight and cost savings process for the automotive industry, encapsulates thin sheet metal stampings in a glass-filled nylon. By adding glass-filled nylon structures to the inside of a thinner steel stamping it is possible to decrease weight while increasing the load bearing capacity of structures such as automotive front-end modules.
