Silicon-oxide based coatings can provide any surface with a durable hydrophobic surface for minimum wettability and adhesion. Polymer materials become less sticky without altering the sealing properties. For instance, this coating type is applicable in medical dosing systems or for sealings made of EPDM, FPM, NBR or silicone. Security valves for high pressure systems or dialysis devices switch reliably and without sticking even after years. Shorter intervals for fast toggling valves are possible. The easy switching for industrial medicine or food valves can be guaranteed without contamination risks. Silicon-oxide based coatings deposited with different plasma parameters can provide durable hydrophilic surfaces for better wettability and improved adhesion. For instance, this coating type is applicable in medical dosing systems, for ink controlling devices, white goods and stationeries. One can achieve water contact angles of less than 10° after coating.Plasma replaces dangerous chemical processes, reduces environmental risks and improves protection of employees.
