SELVOL™ 523 by Sekisui Specialty Chemical is a white to off-white colored, partially hydrolyzed, remoistenable polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH or PVA) grade available in the form of granules. It is manufactured from vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) via a multistep process.

Exhibits good mold release, high tensile strength, excellent bonding characteristics and ease of film formation.
Offers better adhesion to hydrophobic surfaces, solubility in hot water and excellent stability to sunlight.
Provides resistance to greases, petroleum hydrocarbons, animal or vegetable oils and organic solvents.
SELVOL™ 523 is recommended for spun & filament sizing in textiles, adhesives applications such as polymerization, envelope, label, book binding, padding, carton/ case sealing and wood, creping, inkjet and grease resistant papers.
It is also used in building products like cement/ plaster additive and peelable caulks & speciality applications like fragrance & detergent encapsulants, strippable coatings, films, molded products and ceramics.
