High Performance Plastics Growth in Automotive UTH Segment

SpecialChem / May 1, 2013

The Omnexus Click'N Vote of March 2013 spreads the light on the growing use of high performance plastics on Automotive Under-The-Hood (UTH) applications. Among the high performances lies the high heat resistance of the listed plastics in this online poll, which is explained by the technical challenges taking place under the hood. Beside chemicals (direct contact with automotive fluids like fuels, oils and greases) the UTH area is for sure one of the toughest zone of a car. But because the offer on high performance plastics is complex, because design engineers need to first well-understand what each polymer can do, and where lie its limits (with such high performance materials we cannot talk about weaknesses!) the March Click'N Vote question definitely makes sense.
