Mura Technology, the licensee of Licella’s Cat-HTR™ platform, has announced a global partnership with KBR. The new partnership supports the global deployment of Licella’s commercial-ready Cat-HTR™ chemical recycling solution for post-consumer plastic waste.
Economical Recycling of Waste Plastics
Licella’s Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor (Cat-HTR™) platform uses supercritical water to economically convert waste plastics, otherwise destined for landfill, into oil to produce fuels, chemicals and new plastics – helping to unlock a circular economy for all plastic.
Licella created the Cat-HTR™ platform technology alongside company Co-Founder and the Prime Minister’s Innovation Prize winner, Prof. Thomas Maschmeyer. The company has been strongly supported by the University of Sydney during its journey from start-up to global technology innovators.

Complementing the KBR partnership, Mura retains the ability to develop its own operational recycling capacity, with the first Cat-HTR™ site currently in development at Teesside in North East England. On completion, the site will be able to process 80,000 tons of plastic waste per year.
Globally Mura plans to have a recycling capacity of 1 million tons of plastic waste in operation or development by 2025.
