Others are more hidden such as polycarbonate domes for stadium, stations and others. What is the industrial and economic reality? The world plastic consumption exceeded 25 million tonnes some years ago and for Western Europe alone, in 2002: * 6 710 000 tonnes of plastics were consumed in the "Building & civil engineering" sector * Accounting for 17.6 per cent of the total consumption of plastics. The "Building & civil engineering" sector is one where the new materials such as plastics penetrate slowly for original equipments. However, the replacement and rehabilitation market grows more quickly because the consumer directly measures cost savings and other advantages.
