As part of its commitment to reduce environmental pollution, and to assist Europe in meeting new vehicle fleet CO2 targets, the French government has submitted a proposal for a new registration tax system. The system penalises consumers for buying high CO2 emitting vehicles, while rewarding those who opt to purchase more fuel-efficient vehicles.
