The German plastic processing machines and equipment manufacturer Battenfeld Extrusiontechnik has introduced an innovative multi-layer die specially designed for pipe extrusion. According to the firm, this new side-fed die allows processing of thermoplastics with high residence times and temperatures, even at low mass flow rates, thus ensuring an accurate wall thickness distribution. Furthermore, it allows to convert materials highly sensitive to thermal and mechanical stress. It is equipped with twin center sleeves and a coathanger manifold that ensure symmetrical distribution of pressure inside.
