Medical Micromolding Development Advances

SpecialChem / Jul 12, 2007

Battenfeld is a micromolding process pioneer with its patented Microsystem. Microsystem 50 is a complete manufacturing cell for the production of high precision microparts. Totally automated Microsystem 50 injection process-Battenfeld. Totally enclosed in its own Class 100 cleanroom, the system is increasing used to micromold parts for miniature medical device applications. It is capable of performing injection molding, and optical parts recognition, and has built-in, fully automated parts removal, handling and packing. The Microsystem 50 can match a range of application requirements, with modules featuring ionization for zero static, vision systems, good/bad sorting, simultaneous injection/demolding, and packaging such as feeder strips for downstream assembly systems in addition to various injection and clamp modules. It can also be equipped with a multimaterial molding system to inmold decorate, insert or overmold the parts. The system is ideal for molding all types of thermoplastic parts intended for medical device implants.
