Fastener Design Technology Review

SpecialChem / Jan 31, 2007

The company is licensing the patented tooling insert technology which can be used in all plastic applications that previously made use of an 'add-on' hook and loop system for temporary fastening and can also make the inserts. The process is compatible with a wide range of injection-molded thermoplastics. More than 40 resins have been tested including polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, acetal, ABS and thermoplastic urethanes (TPU). Different hook styles are available to meet different pull-tear strength requirements. Applications are expected in automotive, aviation, healthcare, consumer products and sporting goods. Nypro Inc. and Inter-Mold Corporation have formed a global alliance, allowing Nypro designers and customers to create new innovative fastening solutions for their applications. The IMH technology eliminates the material and labor costs of attaching hook material to plastic. It is also waterproof, chemically resistant, and improves the reliability and aesthetics of the fastening solution.
